Ethical Scenarios & Foundation Position
Important Notice:
These scenarios are designed to illustrate how the Anthony Udokwu Foundation – Yahweh approaches radical mercy and ethical decision-making. The Foundation’s position is absolute: mercy and compassion toward the vulnerable take precedence over rules, excuses, or personal convenience.
Scenario 1: Family Hardship and Life-Saving Choice
You grew up in hardship while your uncle and cousin were very wealthy. Despite having the means to help, they repeatedly mocked and ridiculed you, refused to support your education, and treated you with indifference for many years. They sponsored other children to study abroad but deliberately excluded you, possibly due to personal conflicts or dislike toward your parent. You lived with a disability, and prolonged illness made the hospital feel like a second home. At times, there was no one to assist with hospital bills, leaving you vulnerable and emotionally exhausted. You endured years of pain, rejection, and financial hardship with no support and nearly gave up on your dreams. Eventually, you received a scholarship that enabled you to complete your education and begin building a better life. After working hard, you got a job that pays you 250,000 Naira a month. In a few years, you saved ₦5,000,000, which is all the money you currently have. Later in years, you are informed that your uncle or cousin is critically ill and now lost everything. Doctors confirm that ₦5,000,000 is required immediately to save their life.
Foundation Position:
The Anthony Udokwu Foundation – Yahweh believes all available resources should be used to save the life at risk.
Reasoning: Past harm, injustice, or personal grievance does not justify withholding life-saving assistance.
Action the Foundation Upholds: Give the full ₦5,000,000 to save the life if possible, regardless of past wrongs, personal loss, or social expectation.
Scenario 2: Religious Duty vs Immediate Child Rescue
You hold a highly visible and trusted position in your church or mosque. If you are absent without notice: A major religious service will be disrupted; Community members may lose trust in leadership; You may be formally sanctioned or permanently removed from your position; This service is especially important because: It involves fundraising for widows, orphans, or community welfare. Your presence is publicly expected and has been announced.
On your way to this service, already running late, you encounter an unconscious orphan near the church/mosque gate. Bystanders say the child has collapsed and needs urgent medical attention. There is no guardian present. You have ₦500,000, saved over years from your scholarship support and personal work. This same ₦500,000 is reserved for mandatory tithe or Zakat you are expected to pay today. It is the only money you have, no savings, no backup, no immediate income.
Doctors later confirm; The child will likely die within hours without treatment; ₦500,000 is required immediately; There is no guarantee the child will survive even with treatment.
If you stop; The service proceeds; Your religious and community duties are fulfilled; The child may die.
If you do not stop; The service is disrupted; You may lose your leadership role; You may face public criticism or disciplinary action.
Foundation Position:
The Anthony Udokwu Foundation – Yahweh believes the life of the vulnerable child must take absolute precedence.
Reasoning: Systems, duties, roles, or reputations exist to serve people, not to replace immediate compassion.
Action the Foundation Upholds: Stop and provide full care for the child, including giving all available funds necessary for urgent treatment, even if this results in personal, financial, or social loss.
